HISTORY OF THE AUTORAMA
From its humble beginnings as a two-day hot rod show in November of 1950, the Sacramento Autorama stands as the premier showcase of the radical custom and exotic show cars. The Sacramento area has evolved to be known as “The Custom Car Capital of the World.” Each year, thousands of spectators make the annual trek to California’s capital city to view the latest in chopped, channeled, sectioned, and chromed cars as well as hot rods, pickups, motorcycles, muscle cars, and street machines.
PINSTRIPERS CHARITY
Some of the very best pinstripers from around the world will be getting together to showcase their skills as they create automotive art that will be auctioned off each day. This gathering of talented artists will be more than a showcase, as 100% of the proceeds from their work will benefit our charity of the year. Every year, a new charity is chosen to benefit from the auction. For a minimal donation to the charity, bring your cellphone, laptop, or any other item to get pinstriped to help make a difference.
If you are a pinstriper and want to join in the fun, please contact Marshall & Karen Knapp (our pinstriping coordinators) at marshall@marshallstruckart.com, as space is limited.
BUILDER OF THE YEAR
The Sacramento Autorama first started honoring a Builder of the Year in 2007. When John Buck purchased the car shows in 2005, he realized that the Sacramento Autorama was not spotlighting a custom car builder. He quickly made this change. Each year since then, the Sacramento Autorama has honored an automotive business that has consistently excelled in construction and has produced unique vehicles for the show to be named Builder of the Year.
AUTORAMA DRIVE-IN
The Autorama Drive-In is the outdoor portion of our show. This two-day event is for those who want to participate in the Sacramento Autorama but may not want to leave their vehicle indoors for the duration of the show. Come for one day or for both Saturday and Sunday.
The Autorama Drive-In is open to all pre-1973 cars and trucks; no motorcycles allowed. All vehicles must be driven into the event. Participants will receive entry for two people into the event (additional passengers will have their own entry fee), a goodie bag, and without a doubt, the best parking spot on the grounds. In addition, several magazines, including Modern Rodding, All Chevy Performance, and Classic Truck Performance, will present Editor’s Pick Awards on both days. Come out and join us to see 500–800 cars parked throughout the Cal Expo grounds. This event is rain or shine.
